Should We Judge A Song By Its Title?

Raj&Pablo | 14:16 UK time, Monday, 13 October 2008

This week we reviewed the soundtrack of the much awaited Dostana. We loved the music, but some of the song titles, not only of Dostana but of other recent soundtracks too, were on a first glance all a bit strange. Is this a new trend? Or hasÌýBollywood always given us a few strange but - in your face- song titles?

Raj: I remember hearing about a song entitled Ilu Ilu,Ìý"cute"Ìý I thought but is Ilu some kind of chutney that IÌýhaven't experienced? But then on listening to the song they actually explain that I L U means I Love You - we were all using the phrase after that. The experience taught me not to be taken in by strange or crazy song titles and I was pleasantly surprised when I heardÌý"Shut Up and Bounce"Ìýfrom Dostana, we will all be dancing to it.

Pablo: What a strange few weeks it has been for music titles. In reflection I always thought Lucky Boy from
Bachne ae Haseeno was a bit of a strange title, but I love the song. This week Dostana gave us a song called Desi Girl and on reading the title I thought oh no, but on listening to the song with the silly title, it became so much more credible. I don't know if I can say the same thing about the song called Tandoori Nights from Karzzz, it's still not got my temperature going and excuse me does anyone know what Oop Cha from Drona means?

Love Us, Love Bollywood
