Dana Stevens | 17:24 UK time, Tuesday, 19 October 2010

That's right loyalÌýreaders, yet again we're giving you the chance to see our latest new comedy here online before it hits yourÌýTV screens this weekend.

The latest treat for you is a one-off comedy called DOA, whichÌýstands for 'Dead on Arrival',ÌýfeaturingÌýKris Marshall (you'll recognise him from thoseÌýphone adverts and the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ OneÌýcomedyÌýMy Family) and Karen Taylor. They star as Tom and Julie, two paramedics working the night shift together.Ìý

Let me set the scene for you. Tom'sÌýworking hisÌýfirst shiftÌýin an ambulanceÌýafter beingÌýsuspended from his job as a junior doctor due to a malpractice inquiry.ÌýThroughout theÌýnightÌýhe discovers Julie'sÌýworking practices are rather unusual andÌýhe's forced to deal withÌýa crazy mix of alligators, sex toys, heart attacks and goth vomit. Not only that but there's a stalker to contend with andÌýLucy, Tom's uptight fiancee,Ìýis less than impressed with his newÌýjob.ÌýTheir murky adventures on the streetsÌýof Leeds certainly had meÌýchuckling away,Ìýhave a look for yourself and see what you think...

Pretty promising start. Good to see Kris Marshall in a comedy again.

I particularly liked the asides from the minor characters. eg the patients.

All in all, some great lines and I laughed a lot.

  • Comment number 2.

Not sure at first but tuned in by the end!! Will be watching the other episodes. Great to see Kris Marshall back on the Beeb. :)

  • Comment number 3.

Another good ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ3 Comedy pilot. It will be interesting to see how it develops.

Also glad to see Kris gainfully employed after his Estate Agent show was not re-commissioned sometime ago

  • Comment number 4.

I personally found it a bit weird. Marshal reminded me of Simon Pegg in Spaced, which isn't a bad thing. I reckon it'll pick up as the series goes on as we get used to the characters and their issues.

  • Comment number 5.

Kris Marshall is as great as ever - others are good support. Pity about the poor, one theme dialogue - didn't bother to watch it to the end.

  • Comment number 6.

I thought it was very funny - some laugh out loud moments. Karen Taylor drying her nails with an oygen mask being one of them.

looking forward to a full series. Like Jo Brand's Nurses comedy - its very believable.

    well done Beeb

  • Comment number 7.

Very promising. Hope there are more episodes to follow.

  • Comment number 8.

Couldn't watch this to the end, even with Kris Marshall...
    most definitely DOA.

  • Comment number 9.

Really liked the tone, and the writing was excellent. Particularly strong performances from the actors too. I hope there's a full series.

  • Comment number 10.

    DOA brilliant

  • Comment number 11.

Speaking as an A&E nurse from leeds - very funny pilot altho alittle overstated humour at times. Would watch the series.

  • Comment number 12.

Not sure I was that keen on it, I like kris marshall but his humour is usually way better than this gives him credit for. Completely unbelievable plotlines poorly put together.

I expected a lot more from this than I got, a couple of laughs but a lot of cringeworthy stuff.

  • Comment number 13.

Overstated rubbish. Pity because the two main actors deserve better

As someone who works in the ambulance service, I was hoping for D.O.A to be very witty and full of the 'funny' side of the job.. we are served a very good dose of Medic gags, drying nails with O2, Female Para's attitude towards patients, hair band round the crocs mouth.. But some of it displayed very cringeful stuff that does not serve Paramedics Justice... 'Toys' in the equipment box, Being ill on duty, refusing to see patients, civi's administering drugs... I was hoping for them to display professionalism on the jobs they go on, with the gags worked in, not the other way round... I know its only light hearted, but with the cast and the set it has, it really could be so much more... I will recording the series though.

  • Comment number 15.

It could have been really funny - without the hackneyed foul language and hyped up nonsense that is so cliched

  • Comment number 16.

It's kind of like Casualty blended with Bodies and Green Wing. I'd like to see how a series would pan out.

  • Comment number 17.

I like the idea, well written and performed, some very good gags, just could have done with a few more. I would like to see more of it though.

  • Comment number 18.

at 10.41 mins of the program, what is the song called because i have been wanting to know for ages!

  • Comment number 19.

Not expecting this to be a true reflection of the Ambulance Service, but would not have been so out of place in the Seventies!

Anyway Nick the song is Unconditional by The Bravery

  • Comment number 20.

A brilliant watch, really enjoyed it and laughed out loud. But who does the woman in it remind you of? She is a cross between Chas Dingle and Michelle Connor (Kim Marsh. So who exactly is she and what has she starred in before?

  • Comment number 21.

i wasn't able to find out how many episodes this fantastic comedy will have, there's anyone who could tell me that?

thanks, and ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ is my favourite channel.

  • Comment number 22.

As it's a pilot program will this be commissioned?
At least you can laugh at Kris, unlike his ad for a particular phone company. As for Karen she's very humerous and compliments Kris like the girl in his advert.

  • Comment number 23.

Just a message for Danny Cohen about Freaks like Me. How can you have a guy, Dan 23, that changes bad diction whilst wearing a T shirt saying CLIC?
Surely he would get his red pen and add a 'K'
No more of these and plenty of DOA and your other decent comedy

  • Comment number 24.

I would rather beat myself with a dead haddock than watch another episode of this drivel.

  • Comment number 25.

Hi, a promising start. Do you have other characters in mind? I have a few suggestions, another amb crew who have 'all the gear - no idea'. Possibly people who work for St John's ambulance who like to bandage everything/every part of their life is an emergency..
A miserable Para who has been doing the job 20 odd years and to him the amb is van and a man & who detests any new young enthusiastic & knowledgable paramedic. Incestuous relationships at work with other amb workers/nurses/doctors that ruin their long term relationships at home. The dizzy one who may forget to bring any/wrong equipment needed in a cardiac arrest etc
I think medical humour should always be as dark as possible for it to work as it is an inbred personality trait...a family of sinics. I think the female in the pilot is great. Most jobs are not 'emergencies' but picking up drunk people, Old people who fall, psychiatrics & regulars who just want company (drinkers) sometimes someone may just have a papercut. Go darker - my advice!More sarcasm.

  • Comment number 26.

Fantastic program, making a subject normally prime for gritty, or otherwise, drama into a funny and surprising comedy.

Loved it. More please, not just a one off I hope.

  • Comment number 27.

Funny and original. When can we expect a series??? I've just contacted ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Information and they have no idea if this will be commissioned. Which is a bit frustrating tbh.

  • Comment number 28.

I Work for the ambulance service and found the pilot to be priceless and cringworthy at the same time - More Please ! Surgical spirit with Guts !

  • Comment number 29.

I also work for the ambulance service, this pilot was brilliant classic gritty brit gold, scarily like the real job at times! Cannot wait for more episodes, well done!

  • Comment number 30.

Really funny. Was laughing out loud. Rude , a bit crazy and down to earth, I love it

  • Comment number 31.

Anyone know any news on this? I loved it and really hoping for a full series. Searched around on-line buy can't find anything!

  • Comment number 32.

I really enjoyed it, looking forward to the series

  • Comment number 33.

I stumbled across this on iplayer and thought it was brilliant. Knowing some paramedics and nurses, this probably has some truth in the dark humour.
I hope this becomes a full series, it may be adult humour but contains some brilliant comedy.
