East London and the Underground
Next Weekend, the Asian Network kicks off the Summer Festival Season with a two day affair: .
This is a fairly new festival and I've got to admit that I'm a little nervous as and I (as ) are closing the Asian Network stage and have no idea what to expect from the festival or the audience.
You see, with festivals like Glastonbury and Bestival, you know what crazy madness to expect but this is an entirely new challenge. Another big Underground act playing is the .
This got me thinking about how the Alternative Asian sound really kicked off in East London. The Nasha guys are from there, a few of Shiva Soundsystem are too (except me who moved from Birmingham to London, first South, then North and finally East) and of course there are the pioneers, , , , and .
East London has always had a reputation for Underground music with rave arguably kicking off in the East as well as providing a home to Drum & Bass in the form of The Blue Note Nightclub. Events such as , , and cemented the East's status on the Underground circuit with club's like 333 housing events like Sitarfunk and .
Today East London is still as eclectic, accommodating and experimental, if not more so.
This weekend, Desi vibes and the Underground go head to head on the 成人快手 Asian Network Stage at Paradise Gardens, East London.
I can't wait to see how it goes down (I've just got to shake of the nerves first!)

Post your commentIts true - East London's historically played a large part in providing stage and home to many British musical innovators over the past couple of decades, including but not limited to South Asians...
I'm keen to hear more about the whole Paradise Gardens gig... its cool that the fest is outside and for two days... you guys'll be broadcasting recording from it I assume eh? Nice.
Also worthy to note that again this year, the will be held in East London this August! Once again, we will be featuring artists from the area as well as cities around the globe

I've just been to paradise gardens in the rain and had a great time dancing to the last set in the asian network tent....it was wicked! where can I catch you guys playing live again? I had a five year old with me and he loved you...and your free whistles! pity it wasn't longer....and kind of good in a way that it was raining or else i might have missed you as I would have been outside in the sun! :0)

Saturday and Sunday were amazing - thanks for your kind words Bruno and Marian, and everyone that made it there through the rain!
That last set you're reffering to was D-Code and I playing as Shiva Soundsystem. It'll air this Saturday on my show, Electro East as well as the Nasha Experience set.
I was a little apprehensive at first but thought "sod, it - just have some fun!" and I really did!
We're playing live next Saturday at the Wychwood Festival in Cheltenham and after that at Glastonbury, WOMAD and Bestival.
See you there :D

Visiting festivals and giving out free whistles is a BAD BAD BAD idea!!!!!
People pay money to listen to the music, not your whistles! (Blown by inconsiderates.)
Which genius thought up this idea?
You totally ruined Wychwood for me and my partner.
