Bee there or bee square
We were talking about on the show today, and I am very very embarrassed because I declared to the world that I thought honey came out of bees bums. Reg D Hunter our comedian agreed with me in thinking it was butt honey but iIn fact thanks to the interweb we found the true answer.
They use their long, tongues like straws to suck the nectar out of the flowers and they store it in their "honey stomachs which is like a nectar backpack . The honeybees return to the hive and pass the nectar onto other worker bees. These bees suck the nectar from the honeybee's stomach through their mouths. These "house bees" "chew" the nectar for about half an hour. The bees then spread the nectar throughout the honeycomb. Once the honey is gooey enough, the bees seal off the cell of the honeycomb with a plug of wax. The honey is stored until it is eaten. In one year, a colony of bees eats between 120 and 200 pounds of honey.
It was nice to see that somebody else lives in Stretham and he had possibly the coolest voice… ever. Thanks everyone so much for listening to Switch, texting and all that sort of stuff. Can't wait for more fun in the new year… look after Grimmy for me next week while I'm off celebrating Christmas early.
Merry Christmas,
Annie x
p.s now enjoy some Bee comedy.. I'M COVERED IN BEES.
Hello Annie.
I wish you and all your friends and colleges at ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio One a Merry Christmas, plenty of good parties and fun.
The Bee Movie is very good indeed. Very ironic and a bit of dark humour not easily understood by children like another wonderfull 3D animation I strongly recommend "Ratatouie".
It's mr.Seinfeld at his best (on the bee movie of course.
Anyway... my best wishes for you Annie. I might visit London next year (excange programm).

It's funny!
Complain about this postDear Annie:
Slightly more than a year ago I installed a honey bee hive on my Florida resident property to encourage more fruit and flowers. The honey that the bees make is actually an after thought.
Here are a couple of things about bees that you might find interesting. There are about 50,000 worker bees in my one hive, all of them ruled by a single queen. All of the bees in the hive, save for a few male drones, are females. And every one of these females have stingers.
The drones have no stingers. Their job is to fertilize a new queen after the old one dies... and then they're kicked out. Being a man, this does not give me much comfort or confidence about my gender.
Secondly... the HIVE itself is a sentient organism that has moods. It now recognizes me... much as a dog or a cat would recognize me. The name of my hive is Beatrice... and I am her $ugar daddy.
Annie! Wishing you all the best in 2008. And this includes true love with all the champagne that you can drink.
Here in Florida... I drink rum and XO armagnac; living well is the best revenge.
