The Adventure Begins...

The team has finally arrived in Cusco after a gruelling three days travelling. Amazingly all of our 45 boxes and bags got here too, and the two Matts and Zubin are now in the hotel lobby with cables and cameras spread everywhere, trying to cut down on equipment before they leave for the source of the Amazon, which is up in the high Andes.
Bruce' s first impressions of Cusco
Cusco is beautiful. It's the old Incan capital and you can still see their beautiful precise stonework in the streets. The Spanish Conquistadors demolished the old temples and built churches on top of the ruins to assert their dominance. Today, Cusco is a colourful mix of Andean culture and modern day adventure tourism: a sort of decompression chamber between worlds, where you can buy a cheeseburger and a cold beer alongside beautiful traditional fabrics.
It's at 3200m altitude so you can feel the lack of oxygen as soon as you get off the plane. We've all been drinking water and peeing loads as we try to acclimatise. A few beers and an alpaca steak in the local pub have also helped immensely!
The scale of the project dawns on Matt
So, the journey is about to begin at last. We've met our fixers and got all the logistics sorted, now it just remains to get into the high Andes and start making the series.
Spirits are good and everyone is excited to get going now.
The Amazon adventure is about to begin...
