Eid & Navratri Mubarak

Hey all,

If you are celebrating Eid hope you have a good one. If you are not then do pop over to someone's who is and taste their chicken. For some reason there is more attention to detail to cooking around Eid. My Aunty Bushra's spicy thighs were loved by all last year. Uncle Ranbir (neighbour) even brought his young sons around to have a taste.

I am really looking forward to Eid this year and to see some of the extended family. It's also a chance to keep my Dad happy by wearing that brown zig zag jumper that he bought me last year. Eid is the time, like xmas, when you can get away with pretty OTT dress sense. Do Asian women still wear those Shalwar Kameez's with mirrors on? Always good to check if you have any lamb in your teeth.

Thank you to listener Rozey who sent me some lovely Eid cup cakes..yum yum...thank you (still not playing that track for you...hehe)

Do make sure that you take in some of the Asian Network over the weekend and beyond..here's the blurb that tells you what's in store:

Asian Network Eid's celebrations
Saima Amreen presents the Weekend Mirpuri show on Sunday with an interview with Pakistani pop star Abrar Ul Haq - recorded just hours before he went to perform Umrah.
On Monday, listen to the Mirpuri show on Monday as Saima chats with Pakistani pop sensation Hadiqa Kayani and British born singer, Annie.

Tuesday is Noreen's Eid Party on the Asian Network with an exclusive live session British Muslim singer-songwriter Sami Yousaf (recorded in the Maida Vale studios for the show). Hip-hop group, Outlandish will also join the show live from Denmark. Also you can hear presenter Tommy Sandhu's audio diary as he takes part in the rituals associated with the holy month of Ramadan - he'll be observing a fast, and joining experiencing the Chand Raat festivities.

You could also make me happy and listen back to Friday's show and hear my interview with Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan here:

Hey don't forget Navratri starts this weekend..you can still watch my dandia dancing :

Well done to Rex from London who won our Curry on Camping competition.

Love,

Adil
