RETRO TEXT THE NATION JINGLE

Post categories: ,Ìý

James Stirling (6 Music) James Stirling (6 Music) | 12:40 UK time, Thursday, 17 December 2009

It's the Doctor Who of the radio jingle - just when you start to love one version, it morphs into something exciting and new. From the 80's tinged original via the power struggle between 'bin' and trash', to the orchestrated beauty of the three minute version, here are all the Retro Text the Nation jingles for you to download and keep. Many thanks to James Richards for his amazing piano and arrangement skills as well as the amazing new RTTN Orchestra jingle.

Buckles is going to love this.

That is truly epic! I expect to hear the orchestra version on Classic FM soon.

Meanwhile, trying not to think about the gaping chasm of Adam-and-Joe-lessness that awaits after Christmas. *sobs*

Look, sorry to divert the mood but I just wanted to say good luck to Joe and that I shall greatly miss your programmes in 2010.

    Hopefully you'll be back.

Wowzers that Orchestral version is truely EPIC! I can see it being played at Last Night of the Proms next year with all of Black Squadron waving A&J flags. Oh and good luck Joe on your first movie, how exciting!

So I've just sent a rendition of Retro Text the Nation which involves only myself and a guitar, and now I find out that I'm competing with John Williams.

    Excellent.

Envy aside, this arrangement is wonderful.

Oh yes, oh yes, RTTN Orchestral, and I'm spent.

James Richards deserves Knighting or a medal. Perhaps he could 'win' Boggins? Perhaps he can be known as Sir Retrotextual.

Does anyone know when they'll be back?

There's no appropriate blog entry, as yet, to post this but I just also want to say good luck to Joe with his film. Does Adam have a role in it I wonder?

It's bittersweet for us devotees, I shall miss them dearly on the radio but on the other hand I can't wait to see 'Attack the Block' and also the sitcom Adam is involved in (I can't recall the name off the top of my head).

So boys, on behalf of your large Irish fanbase I want to say thanks for providing us with the best radio entertainment ever over the last 2 years and I look forward to your return later in 2010.

Here here from the East Anglia (danglier) division. Hopefully we won't be Bleak Squadron for too long, bumbling around confused in need of leadership on Saturday mornings. Lets keep ourselves motivated and creative and in top form ready for their return!

    Happy Christmas everyone X

0008 on 18/12/09 reads a bit maudlin, sorry about that. And also a bit ignorant of Buckules. Good luck to Ad. Looking forward to "The Scum Also Rises". I'll miss the rage and the wife anecdotes. They strike a chord. And "The Rhymes of Goodbye" had me welling up, man. Oh, it's gone maudlin again. Gah.

Is anyone else wandering around the net feeling a bit lost tonight? I've got egg dribbling out of my mouth, some stale bread in my pocket, a few fairy lights poking out of the bottom of my pan hat with no sense of belonging any more..........

Top marks to James Richards for Retro Text The Nation Orchestra, what a brills version. I now listen to this daily before getting my fix of back A+J podcasts. It has the ability to almost move me to tears the same way as when I stood in front of 2 Harrier Jump Jets at an air show last year...think thats called awe.
I haven't seen any comment on this from Adam or Joe but james deserves some kind of award for it.
Anyone listening to it, turn the lights down to 0 and the base up to 11...awesome.
