Black Squadron DedicationWe've had an email from across the pond documenting some impressive BS devotion...

Ìý

"Joe and Adam,

Ìý

My sister and I are avid listeners to your show, but we live in the United States, in Florida, and therefore cannot listen to your live show (considering it starts at 4 in the morning here). However now it's summer vacation, so we decided why the heck not? So we woke up at 4 in the morning to listen to your show and we are enjoying being able to listen to all of your show, not just the highlights. For the duration of the summer, we will be Black Squadron members:-D. Attached are some pictures of us following your commands (some making up for lost time). We love ALL of your show, none of those "except"s from us.

Ìý

Much love,

Emma and Vivian"

Emma and Vivian

Can any Black Squadron members prove they are more dedicated than this?

    pretty damn good.

While I respect fellow Adam & Joe fans whichever squadron they belong to, I really thing we should show more love toward Phantom Squadron as I'm confident Phantom Squadron members have listened to the show while in far more extreme circumstances than ANY member of Black Squadron (the baby in the washing machine was pretty extreme though).

I recently did a charity skydive and moments before leaping out of the moving airplane at 11,000 feet I was listening to Dr Buccles telling the 'subordinate Claus' joke, which was remarkably calming!

I plan to provide video evidence of my friends and I listening to the podcast in bizarre situations over the coming weeks in an attempt to redress the balance and show that Black Squadron aren't the only brown nosers round here.

Fantastic work, ladies! I'm also in FL and have only managed the 4AM Black Squadron status a couple of times......usually after too much caffeine the day before. It obviously takes hard work and determination for us BS members in the Eastern Time zone. 4 is too late to stay up from the night before and too early to avoid a nap later in the day.
Keep up the good work BS!

I live in the U.S., too, buut I'm even further west. The show comes on at 3 a.m. here. I love A and J, but I love sleep more. So I listen again, and I feel OK about it.

However, well done, Emma and Vivian!

The only time i can possibly be in the black squadron is if by some chance i've drunk too much r** b*** or any other kind of taurine based stay awake juice such as tesco's ki** asda's blue bo** and then i can't go to sleep on a saturday morning and i have to get up, much to the annoyance of my good lady wife.mind you after fidgeting around in a taurine charged frenzy you think she would be glad for me to get up of course the downside of getting out of bed with no sleep is about 4 o'clock in the afternoon i normally need to take a nap which she is never to keen on still never mind keep up the good work and i'll keep of the energy drinks and wait for the podcast

I'm not 100% sure, but doesn't this feat (impressive though it is) make the girls Globe Squadron members, rather than Black Squadron? I.e. listening live in another time zone? Whatever - I'm bloody impressed that anyone gets up at 4am for any purpose, let alone to listen to A&J (no offence guys).

My time zone means that if I listen live I have to interrupt my dinner - that's dedication in my estimation, but probably not in anyone else's!

  • Comment number 7.

Most weekends I cant drag my fleabitten carcase out of bed in the a.m. for anything short of a house fire, let alone get up at some horrendous hour like 4am. Truly you deserve your Black Squadron wings. I'll stick to the 'listen again' and podcast for now, and retain my sanity.

  • Comment number 8.

I agree with nooooddy. Phantom Squadron members can be equally as hardcore as Black Squadron when it comes to listening. Forget about waking up at 9 in the morning... whats so special about that??

Try listening on a crowded bus on the way home from work, where the only seats left are at the back next to a bunch of young hoodlums. Your aural senses are significantly deprived with earphones in, so you're constantly on guard for what these miscreants might be up to..... now thats hardcore dedication!!

  • Comment number 9.

I find it weird that they addressed their e-mail to "Joe and Adam." IT'S ADAM AND JOE.

  • Comment number 10.

We addressed the e-mail as "Joe and Adam" in order to help boost Joe's self-esteem, in case it's been damaged by always being mentioned last. And thank you all for the kind words. Hopefully I can get a hold of some more caffeine

I'm very impressed by this dedication to the Squadron! I'm up and standing by on the Black Squadron Facebook page every Saturday morning. I tell you, the boys really help me maintain my sanity while I try and write up an excruciating PhD about yeast. Oh well, back to it...

I live in Texas and if these IDIOT HOLES would fix the iplayer I could rejoin American Black Squadron.

  • Comment number 13.

Vivian, I supposed that makes sense. But I thought, "Who the hell are Joe and Adam?" It just doesn't roll of the tongue quite the same way.

  • Comment number 14.

    Whoops. Typo. SUPPOSE, not supposed.

  • Comment number 15.

I too am from the western side of the pond and I would happily stay up till 1 AM every friday night/saturday morning but I listen to only the podcast because I have NO IDEA where to get bbc radio. Can someone please tell me where i can find it here. Would I have to get sirius or xfm?

  • Comment number 16.

oddamerican - use the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ iPlayer (www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer) you can listen to/watch pretty much any radio or tv show thats been show on the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ in the previous 7 days.

You dont need to download anything, it works through your web browser

  • Comment number 17.

Pah! I'm almost always still up at 4am on a Saturday morning... getting up for 9am however, that takes dedication.

  • Comment number 18.

impressive work ladies ... hope you managed the bacon bracelet this morning :-)

  • Comment number 19.

@oddamerican and soy666 - I'm in Oz and have terrible trouble using the iPlayer as it only likes UK ISPs and free proxies are hard to come by and half the time don't work. If you're listening live, however, it's easy - just go to the 6Music website, and "Listen Now". :-)

  • Comment number 20.

Do you have to keep re-joining black squadron each week like signing the official secrets act, or will one 0900-0930 listen last you a few weeks?

  • Comment number 21.

I for one am happy to pay the license fee in order to share ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ and Adam and Joe with the world. Just out of interest, though, how do people hear about Adam and Joe in other countries? Is it a select anglophile thing? I wouldn't have thought that UK stuff was so palatable overseas.

  • Comment number 22.

Could we start a thread for Globe Squadron? I am curious to see how many people from around the world are cultured enough to enjoy our favorite duo, Adam and Joe.

It seems we have a few listeners from Florida, USA.
