An introduction to the major organs of the human body
Description
An animated sequence which tours the human body, picturing and naming the major organs. The job of each organ is briefly explained. The brain, heart, lungs, stomach, liver, kidneys, intestines and skin are all mentioned. The clip also stresses the importance of a healthy diet and exercise to keep your organs in good condition.
Classroom Ideas
After viewing, the class could work out a version of the action song 鈥楬ead, shoulders, knees and toes鈥, substituting the names of the major organs. Pupils only need to find one rhyme for an organ to make the song work. For example, 鈥楤rain, liver, lungs and heart, lungs and heart, Brain, liver, lungs and heart, lungs and heart, Skin, stomach, kidneys, intestines play their part 鈥 Brain, liver, lungs and heart, lungs and heart.鈥 The children could then sing their song through, pointing at the various locations of the organs.
