Volume of a sphere

The formula to find the volume of a sphere you use the formula:

\(V = \frac{4}{3}\pi {r^3}\) where r is the radius.

Example

Calculate the volume of a sphere with radius 6cm.

\(V = \frac{4}{3}\pi {r^3}\)

\(= \frac{4}{3} \times \pi \times {6^3}\)

This can be done on a calculator by \(4 \div 3 \times \pi \times {6^3}\) , using the \(\pi\) or if you don鈥檛 have a scientific calculator, use 3.14)

\(= 904.7786...\)

\(= 904.78\,c{m^3}\,(to\,2\,d.p.)\)
