Why is International Women鈥檚 Day celebrated on March 8th each year?
It honours women's social, economic, and cultural accomplishments is a worldwide celebration. The day focuses on important topics like gender equality, women's equal rights, violence and abuse against women, and reproductive rights. On 8 March, 1914, there was a women's suffrage march in London, calling for women's right to vote, at which high-profile campaigner Sylvia Pankhurst was arrested.
