People London is home to nearly half of England's ethnic minority population. From restaurants and cafes to mosques, churches and synagogues, life in London reflects the influences of the many different communities living here.
Over 300 languages are spoken, from Urdu to Somali; Polish to Cantonese, Turkish to Afrikaans. For many, this richness is the best part of London. Yet it's not always a smooth ride: there can be tensions when new communties meet more established ones, and some worry that if communities keep to themselves, a sense of shared identity is being lost. |
