Examples:
Jose Mourinho was a successful manager at Chelsea before, so many fans are excited he is making a comeback.
British pop group Take That made a comeback in 2006 with the album Beautiful World, 11 years after their previous album.
Take note
To come back from the dead. This phrase is used to describe someone who becomes successful or popular again after a period of being unsuccessful or unpopular.
Example:
That actor made terrible movies for ten years. But he came back from the dead when he acted in a sensitive romantic drama last year.
Interesting fact
When Mourinho arrived at Chelsea for the first time in 2004 he told the media: "Please don't call me arrogant, but I'm European champion and I think I'm a special one." Since then, he has had the nickname 'the special one'.
