Today's Phrase

If something 'drives you round the bend', it makes you really bored or angry.

Examples:

Jane's brother practises guitar every night for hours. He drives her round the bend.

I waited for 25 minutes before my bus came this morning. Public transport drives me round the bend!

Take note

If you are 'in the driving seat', it means you are in control of a situation.

Example:

After Manchester United scored their third goal they were in the driving seat in the match.

In our web design company, young people are in the driving seat.

Interesting fact

NASCAR stands for the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing. A stock car is a normal car which has been made faster and stronger so it can compete in races.
