Win Ma Ma Aye emailed - With regard to sanctions, it goes beyond Burmese people losing jobs. It affected the amount of aid the country received to fight social issues such as HIV/AIDS, education, etc. It's very considerate of her that she's willing to listen to people now.

Gideon on the blog - In such a globalised world, she can count on international support - if and only if bias is non-existent there. However some of her ambitions may not be realised in her lifetime, but she must not give up the walk

Andrew on the blog - This may be all good and well for Aung San and her followers but before the celebrations carry us away we should realise that at any moment the regime can and no doubt will pull the plug and return Aung San back under arrest

Livia emailed from Switzerland - She has already given 20 years of her life to Burma, and it's time to leave and work from abroad. She will be arrested again at the slightest imagined provocation.

Sam in Kampala, Uganda emailed - I highly doubt the sincerity of the Burma military in releasing Suu Kyi, I am sure she is being watched and followed for the slightest excuse to get arrested again.

Fazalrahman on Facebook - i am sure that her release is a breakthroug for the third time in the Myanmar political history, but at the same time i assume that she won't be given much freedom and the military government may try to have a closo watch on her
