Liberia faces enormous post-war security concerns, including a wave of night time armed robberies in the country's major towns. The problem is compounded by the fact that police and other security services are not properly equipped to deal with the situation.

In a effort to address these challenges, a United Nations sponsored night-time phone-in radio show named "Crime Watch" has been set up on a local station.

The programme allows residents to call in and report events happening in their areas, alerting police patrols that can respond immediately to confront suspected robbers.

But criminals too have been finding different ways to beat the system. Network Africa's Jonathan Paye-Layleh reports from Monrovia.
