    Flooding is expected - immediate action required

    This Flood Warning has been issued due to the high spring tide forecast at 03:00 AM on 18/10/2024.
    Flooding is expected at properties at Willington Boat Club, Wincomblee Estates in Walker, Newcastle Quayside from Wetherspoon's Pub to Broad Chare, Brama Teams Industrial Park, Ravensworth Road and sites on Clockmill Road. We are expecting higher than normal tides over the next few days and as a result we may issue further alerts or warnings. We are closely monitoring the situation and we do not currently plan to deploy the temporary barrier at Newcastle Quayside.
    Please be careful along riverside footpaths and low lying land and roads which may be flooded. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one. This message will be updated by 11:00 AM on 18/10/2024, or as the situation changes.

    River levels have risen on the lower River Eden due to rainfall overnight on Wednesday into Thursday. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Eden, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around farms and properties in the Warwick Holmes area. River levels are expected to start to slowly fall from mid afternoon today 17/10/2024.

    We will continue to monitor levels closely.

    River levels have risen on the lower River Eden due to rainfall overnight on Wednesday into Thursday.     Predicted peaks:- Llanymynech peaked at 4.39m at 10pm on Wednesday evening, 16/10/2024.

    Flooding is expected - immediate action required

    Thursday morning's tide at 11:15 on 17/10/2024 and 13:20 on 17/10/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with light Westerly Force 3 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.29 m. The total forecast tide is 4.06 metres Chart Datum (2.32 mAOD) at Beaulieu. For 1 hour either side of high water, Palace Lane and the B3056 (Hatchet Lane) north of the Mill Pond will flood. Access to the village will be temporarily difficult. On the downstream side of the pond, the Mill House garden will flood. The tide level is a little elevated over the next 4 days. This may cause some impacts at each high water until Monday‚ but where impacts do occur‚ they will be minor. We continue to monitor the forecast. To reduce flood risk to property, please drive slowly through Beaulieu, avoiding it completely if possible. At Hatchet Lane, driving through flood water can cause flooding to property. We will update this message by 16:00 on 17/10/2024.

    Areas affected: Tidal areas of Littlehampton Rope Walk

    Flooding is possible - be prepared

    Friday afternoon's tide at 12:30 on 18/10/2024 will be higher than normal due to unsettled weather with light Southerly Force 2 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.07 m. The total forecast tide is 6.32 metres Chart Datum (3.27 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high water, the tide could cause flooding to boatyards and the industrial areas along Littlehampton Rope Walk. Water will be high up slipways and could be forced up through drains causing minor flooding to roads. If the tide is slightly higher than forecast, following flood damage in April 2024, it could be possible for a small amount of water to flow through The Shipyard, and onto Rope Walk. Saturday's early morning tide at 00:45 on 19/10/2024 is forecast to be 5 cm lower (3.22 mAOD). Similar flood impacts are expected to continue until Monday 21/10/2024. The highest tide ahead is forecast on Sunday 20/10/2024 (3.3 mAOD). We continue to monitor the forecast. If you have it, please install flood protection 2 hours before high tide.     Friday afternoon's tide at 12:30 on 18/10/2024 will be higher than normal due to unsettled weather with light Southerly Force 2 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.07 m. The total forecast tide is 6.32 metres Chart Datum (3.27 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high tide, small amounts of water will flood land and fields at Climping. Waves will overtop the seafront, directing water westwards along Mill Lane (from the right of the East car park) towards properties on Climping Street. Water may pond near properties and in Climping Street Car Park. Saturday's early morning tide at 00:45 on 19/10/2024 is forecast to be 5 cm lower (3.22 mAOD). Similar flood impacts are expected to continue until Monday 21/10/2024. The highest tide ahead is forecast on Sunday 20/10/2024 (3.3 mAOD). We continue to monitor the forecast and routinely check the condition of the beach at Climping. Avoid walking at the seafront, or parking at Climping Street Car Park.     A Flood Alert for the Tidal River Ouse, Don and the Dutch River Catchment has been issued today, Thursday 17th October 2024, at 12:50.

    Areas most at risk include the south bank of the River Ouse from Airmyn to Whitgift and the River Don and Dutch River from Thorne to Goole.

    This alert will remain in force for a series of high spring tides in the coming days and applies especially to morning tides, the highest of which will be tomorrow morning, Friday 18th October 2024. The tidal levels will gradually drop off as we go through the weekend.

    We are closely monitoring the situation and will be in the area checking our flood defences during this sequence of high tides.

Times are local and refer to the high water time at Avonmouth, however conditions may apply one to two hours either side of the high tide. There is a possibility of high water levels for the tidal River Avon from Sea Mills to Conham in Bristol and between the Avonmouth Bridge and Shirehampton Park including Pill and Shirehampton.     Water levels remain high but stable at the Sherborne Lake gauge on the River Yeo. This Flood Alert remains in place as a result of recent heavy rainfall.

    Flooding may affect locations near the River Yeo, River Cam, River Wriggle, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around the Sparkford to Weston Bampfylde road and Deep Ford Lane, Chetnole.

    The River Tone level at Currymoor pumping station is 7.47 m and is falling. Water will enter Currymoor reservoir via Hookbridge spillway whilst this level exceeds 7.45m.

    The drain level at Currymoor pumping station is 5.33 m and is rising. Cutts Road floods when this level is above 5.75m, and New Road when the level is above 6.18m. There is a risk of water overtopping Haymoor flood storage area and affecting Curload and Stan Moor if this level reaches 8.30m. Clacton Promenade, Lee-over-Sands and Brightlingsea sea front may see some wave overtopping and spray. The Strood at Mersea Island, Coast Road and car parks on the front at West Mersea, and the Hythe and Promenade at Maldon may be flooded. The detailed forecast for those that use it is for a peak level at Clacton of 2.82mAODN at 12:15pm, on Thursday 17th October, which is 0.17m above tide tables, wind Force 4, Westerly.     River levels are now falling in Crowhurst, following Wednesday evening's rain. Minor flood impacts affecting fields, rural roads and a small number of gardens in Crowhurst should ease through Thursday. River levels in Bulverhythe are a little higher than normal, and will rise over the high tide periods, but only minimal flood impacts are expected to affect Bexhill Road Recreation Ground in Bulverhythe. Only isolated showers are forecast Thursday and Friday. The river should continue to fall in Crowhurst, and begin to fall in Bulverhythe by 14:00 17/10/2024. In Crowhurst river levels should return nearer to normal by Thursday evening. However a band of rain Saturday could potentially increase flood risk again. In Bulverhythe, river levels will remain a little higher than normal until next week. Flood protection products are recommended to be kept installed, in Crowhurst, if you have them.     Thursday morning's tide at 10:30 on 17/10/2024 is higher than normal, due to unsettled weather with light Westerly Force 3 winds, which will increase tide table values by 0.29 m. Total forecast tide is 4.61 metres Chart Datum (2.02 mAOD) at Cowes. For 1 hour either side of high water, flooding of seafront roads, esplanades and car parks is expected. Water levels will be very high in Cowes, affecting Medina Road (floating bridge) and Sea Street (Newport). In East Cowes, seawater forced up through drains will cause minor impacts to the road at Albany Road, Well Road, York Avenue and Castle Street. The ferry terminal car park at Yarmouth will flood. Tide levels will be a little elevated over the next 4 days, causing some minor impacts at each high water until Monday. We continue to monitor the forecast. The tide will come near to the top of front door steps at Medina Road. Well Road, East Cowes may be affected by water in the road. We recommend that flood protection is installed, if you have it, at Medina Road 1 hour before high tide. We will update this message by 16:00 on 17/10/2024

The Bull River through Hellingly could continue rising until 11:00 17/10/2024 but only minor flooding affecting fields, rural roads and isolated gardens is expected. River levels in Alfriston could continue rising until 23:00 17/10/2024, but again only minor flooding affecting fields, rural roads and isolated gardens is expected. Only isolated showers are forecast Thursday and Friday. River levels should return near to normal Friday 18/10/2024. A band of rain Saturday could potentially increase flood risk again. Plan to avoid driving routes susceptible to flooding, including Mill Lane and Church Road Hellingly and North Street Alfriston. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. The causeway at Sutton Gault has approximately 1 centimetre of water on the road. Flood water is receding from the causeway at Welney. There are currently no issues on the Earith causeway. Due to the uneven surface of the roads, water may be deeper in places.
    The Environment Agency are liaising with Cambridgeshire Highways and Norfolk Highways, who will decide whether to close the roads.     The forecast high tide at Richmond is 4.75mAOD at 03:00 on 17/10/2024 and 4.75mAOD at 14:45 on 17/10/2024.

    Flooding of low-lying roads and footpaths is expected, which may exist for one to two hours either side of high tide. Flooding of properties is not expected.

    We believe there is a possibility of flooding for Putney Embankment (SW15), Chiswick Mall and Strand on the Green (W4), Thames Bank at Mortlake (SW14), Ranelagh Drive (TW1), Friars Lane and Water Lane (TW9), Riverside and The Embankment at Twickenham, and the Towpath below Teddington Lock.

    Astronomical tide levels are rising. The river flow at Teddington Weir is high for this time of year at 150 cubic metres per second and is steady. We anticipate the flows to remain high for the next five days.

    Thursday morning's tide at 11:30 on 17/10/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather, with light Westerly Force 4 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.17 m. The total forecast tide is 5.34 metres Chart Datum (2.60 mAOD) at Chichester Harbour. For 1 hour either side of high water, the tide will flood Shore Road. At Bosham High Street, water will be near to or flood front door steps. Gardens or land of shore side properties around the Harbour could also be affected. Thursday evening's tide at 23:45 17/10/2024 is forecast to be 14 cm lower (2.46 mAOD). Similar flood impacts are expected to continue until Monday 21/10/2024. The highest tide ahead is forecast on Sunday 20/10/2024 (2.7 mAOD). We continue to monitor the forecast. If you have them, please install flood boards 1 hour before high tide. Avoid walking through flood water as it may contain hidden hazards and be deep in places. We will update this message by 18:00 on 17/10/2024.
