Bottlenose dolphin

New Quay

Nestling on the Ceredigion coast of Cardigan Bay, New Quay is an ancient fishing village with a reputation founded on its population of bottlenose dolphins.

There are also common dolphins, porpoises and even whales in the area's waters.

The Sea Watch Foundation monitors the populations of these cetacean species.

You can get involved in June 2008 by assisting in the National Whale and Dolphin Watch, looking out for any of the species above.

Visitors can also use the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre as a base to learn more about the village's amazing sea life.
