MORFABLOG
What's a 'blog'? It's a kind of online diary but, instead of 'things I did today', the theme's usually 'great websites I found today'. Nic Dafis has been writing his Welsh-language Morfablog from Llangrannog, west Wales, since April 2000 and, as he says:
"It's thought that there are more than 500,000 blogs on the web, but only one of them is in the language of heaven!"
(July '02: there are now many Welsh-language blogs)
LUIGI'S LANGUAGE ADVICE
This site's got nothing at all to do with the Welsh language. So what's it doing in the Catchphrase webguide? Well, as anyone who's ever slogged away at learning a language knows, learning techniques are the key to becoming a fluent speaker of a new language. Luigi lives in Hungary and he says he can show you how he learned four languages in four years. His site's full of tips about how to plan your learning, how to use your dictionary and how much attention to pay to the rules of grammar.
WELSH PHRASES
If you're coming to Welsh as a complete beginner learner, and you'd like an at-a-glance page to print, this one isn't bad. (Dec '02 - site's re-directing me to searchwales.info search engine).

TALKING DICE
Emily Quirin's a Cardiff schoolteacher who's started a business selling a set of blank dice and themed images you can stick onto the face of each die. You can use these dice in a number of ways. For example, you can roll a pair and if you get a cricket bat and a TV screen, you could say 'Dwi'n gwylio criced ar y teledu'. The tutor could then ask a student to make a sentence about this in the future...

The Welsh Books Council (WBC) owns the well-known e-commerce site,gwales.com (see below). WBC has just revamped its own website. There's a nice bestseller list, a Novel of the Month, a World Books Day archive and a reallyuseful page of links to book-related websites.

GWYBODIADUR
If you're looking to build up a shelf of books to help you learn Welsh, this site should really help you decide which ones to go for. Apart from the assessments of Welsh dictionaries, grammar and language learning books, there are listings and reviews of tens of websites.
GWALES
Search for and buy Welsh books online. The navigation could have been a lot simpler. Why hide the search facility four clicks deep instead of putting it on the homepage? This Welsh Books Council site does fill a gap in the market though for people wanting to choose from a comprehensive range of Welsh books and order them online with their credit card.
