The Enemy Within
Anthony Thomas, Pontypool
Work stoppages are about dignity as well as money. Anthony Thomas took part in the miners' strike of '84-'85. In his personal video, he tells us how the passage of time has not healed his wounds and talks about the way the miners' were made to feel by the media and the government at the time.
"We went from being the salt of the earth and the people who kept things going, to being the scum of the earth. I've lived with this for 25 years and now, by making this video, its time to put it to rest."
Find out what the politicians and union leaders had to say in this with Lord Peter Walker, then Conservative Energy Secretary and Kim Howells, then NUM official for South Wales.
