"I've moved to so many houses and have so many happy memories." After moving houses five times, Laura settles down in a new home.

Transcript

"I've lived in five different houses since I was born.

When I was two I lived in Llanedeyrn where I ate four leaf clover for luck - a typical child y'know? At three, I dawdled home from the shopping centre, shame my mum didn't know! The police were out for hours while I sat on the doorstep waiting. I was always trying to make a getaway!

At Crossways Road I picnicked under the pineapple tree with my sister in the summer and partied with my family at Christmas. The hill was great for rollerblading, grazing my knees as I tried to stop before reaching the main Cowbridge Road. Idle threats of being sent to the Children's ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ if we didn't behave.

The best game was at Heol Trelai when we climbed the swing set to Tarzan from the weeping willow - much to my mum's annoyance. But that was nothing compared to coming home coated in mud from the estate being built across the road.

I've moved to so many houses and have so many happy memories, but now we've moved again!

My Mum's getting married soon, so it's a time for new beginnings. Mum, Gareth, Jessie, Sam and hamsters and frogs and cat and dog have all packed our bags to Cogan. Five different houses, but now we're home."

An interview with the author

Please tell us a little about yourself.
I'm 18 years old and I technically have two homes - one with my family and the other with my loving boyfriend.

What's your story about?
My story is about my family starting again, as a proper family. I wanted my mum to know that Gareth isn't her partner; he's one of the family.

What did you find most rewarding about the workshop?
The fact that I got to make loads of new friends, work with a great team and let my mum know that I'm happy that she's with someone she loves.
