A short film about a small but challenging personal ambition that becomes an ever-widening metaphor for hope.
About the film
Pensioner, Shirley Bourne, puts on her golden shoes to undertake a journey she made over thirty years ago and climbs the ancient hill fort of Twmbarlwm above her home town in South Wales once more.
The title 'Hill of Dreams' was inspired by the semi-autobiographical novel by author Arthur Machen, published in 1907. Born in Caerleon, Machen was also inspired by Twmbarlwm, and it is this hill that forms the basis of the one described in the book.
