2002: First round-world balloon journey
Steve Fossett became the first person to single-handedly fly around the world by balloon on 2 July 2002.
The American millionaire landed in Australia after two weeks in flight over the Southern Hemisphere.
In his lifetime, Mr Fossett set more than 116 records in balloons, airplanes, sailboats, gliders and airships.
