Jubilant London crowds gather outside Buckingham Palace on a dark November night to salute the birth of HRH Prince Charles and to coax another balcony appearance from a proud Duke of Edinburgh.
After marrying Princess Elizabeth, the Duke of Edinburgh continued with his career in the Royal Navy until 1951, when his father-in-law, King George VI, became seriously ill and the duke was required to help fulfil some of the monarch's duties.
