ART FOR ART'S SAKE By Roy Pearce
Roy is is exploring art in its widest sense by studying for a masters degree at Lincoln University. He is keen to demonstrate that art can be more than just a painting on a living room wall.
With this aim in mind, Roy set out to create a temporary piece of work on Lincoln's Steep Hill using old off cuts of furniture. Roy says, an art work only exists because of the relationship between the artist, the concept, the production and the person who views the end result.
Roy takes his inspiration from the Innuits who build stone sculptures called Innukshuks, which are formed out of stone in the shape of men and are used as winter guide markers
