| Title:
      A
      Gateshead Angolan
For one Angolan who left his native country,
the North East and in particular, Gateshead has become a welcoming home. But Moises Raimundo has done more than
just turn up on Gateshead's doorstep. He has become an important part
of a number of local communities, and his expertise and knowledge is widely
sought. The long running civil war in Angola is
now a distant memory for Moises, but a memory none the less He lost members
of his family, and the effects of war disrupted his education, but his
fluency in Portuguese, English and French has given him a head start in
life. There is a surprising number of Angolans
in the North East and the community of over thousand has a strong bond.
Moises continues to develop his expertise
with further studying in evening classes between interpreting, working
with Royal Mail and at the East End of Newcastle Asylum Centre. But despite being more than at home in
Gateshead, even now being used to the weather, he is still an Angolan
        at heart. Comment
