First.stop.for.musicians!

First.stop.for.musicians is a brand new venture in social networking that gives musicians the opportunity to meet and socialise in a safe, relaxed, non-playing environment.

"Many guitarists, especially younger ones, would love to join a band but don't know where to start" said Len Collins, founder of Guitar Breakthrough.Ìý "Answering advertisements can be intimidating, and there's no way of knowing from an ad whether the 'chemistry' will even be right.Ìý

"We hope that a forum where musicians can meet in a relaxed environment and exchange ideas about their music will naturally lead to playing relationships developing, and ultimately to bands being created.

"People can chat with other like-minded musicians and find people that they would like to play music with."

If all goes well, the plan is to hold regular meetings at cafes around the local area, where for the price of a cup of tea, musicians of all ages will be able to meet each other face-to-face, discuss their music and then perhaps arrange to meet up again –Ìý with their instruments!

"We're giving young drummers the opportunity to meet young like-minded bass players; flute players can meet other woodwind players – anything you like really!" said Len.

"We will split the meeting into sessions of an hour or so for young musicians aged 13 and under with their parents, followed by another for those aged 17 and under, before the start of the adult session later in the evening" said Len.

Anyone who simply wants to find someone to play their music with, whether they're a musician, a composer or even a singer – this could be the perfect opportunity to get out there and make a name for themselves!

The first meeting will be held at the Dolphin Café in Towcester on FridayÌý20th February, with the second meeting taking place at the Mange Tout in Stony Stratford on Friday 27th February.
