Autumn days
In the first dance session of our Autumn unit, the children show through their movements the different types of weather on an Autumn day. They stretch upwards in the sunshine, shiver in the chilly wind, work with a partner to grow as a tree, then spin around slowly, like the leaves falling. They then dance quickly around the space, as though they are the rolling leaves being carried by the wind. Finally, they put the moves they have learnt together to create a longer dance sequence.
In the second session the children pay a visit to the park. They put on their wellies, run to the park, then jump in the leaves. Finally, they create a longer dance sequence, putting together all the moves that they have learned.
