Thank you for taking an interest in the Gladiators micro:bit competition! Please find below the full terms and conditions for entering, as well as the competition's Privacy Policy. It is recommended that you read this page through before submitting to ensure that your entry is valid for the competition, and what the participation and rewards for the competition entail.

Competition Terms and Conditions

Eligibility

  1. The 成人快手 Teach Micro:bit Gladiators Competition (the "Competition") is open to Primary Schools in the UK, Channel Islands and the Isle Of Man, with children aged between 7 and 11 years of age at the 6th December 2024, except the children or close relatives of the 成人快手 and 成人快手 Group employees closely connected with the Competition. The 成人快手 reserves the right to request proof of age as well as parent鈥檚 or guardian鈥檚 permission to enter.
  2. For the purpose of this competition, the entrant shall be the school (鈥楨ntrant鈥).

How to Enter

  1. Design a gadget that will enable Gladiators Phantom and Dynamite to be their best. Along with the hand drawn or digitally created design, provide a description of the gadget explaining the design and how it works (100 鈥 300 word limit). Children can work alone or in groups. English and Welsh language entries will be accepted and they will be judged in the applicable language.
  2. Teachers must use the 成人快手 Uploader on the 成人快手 Teach website to submit a maximum of 3 entries per school; any further entries will be disqualified. Please ensure the entry drawing and explanation of the design contain no personal data. Teachers must complete the web form providing all information requested and ensure they have permission from each child鈥檚 parent or guardian to enter the Competition. Please ensure parents/guardians are provided with a copy of the Rules. Entries cannot be returned so please ensure you retain a copy.
  3. The competition is open from 11am on 15th October 2024 to midday on 6th December 2024. Late entries will not be considered.
  4. The 成人快手 will only ever use personal details for the purposes of administering this Competition. Please see the Privacy Notice for more information.
  5. By submitting an entry for the Competition, the Entrants confirm they have obtained parent/guardian permission for the children to participate and a licence shall be granted to the 成人快手 for the entry to be published free of charge by the 成人快手 in all media, including television, print and internet, for all purposes as it wishes. The 成人快手 may wish to display entries on the 成人快手 website which will display the name of the school only. Should the 成人快手 wish to film any participating school, further consent from parents or guardians will be required along with any necessary agreements (eg. location release, contributor consent forms) for filming and broadcast. In all of the above instances, the 成人快手 will work in line with the 成人快手 Child Protection Policy.
  6. For editorial reasons, it is necessary for the 成人快手 to acquire ownership of all rights in the winning design. To that end, it is a condition of entry that the Entrant shall obtain relevant consents from students and parents or guardians as appropriate, enabling assignment of all rights (including any moral rights) to the 成人快手. If you have any concerns about this requirement, we advise you not to enter.
  7. All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. In addition, the use of generative AI tools to create or develop any part of an entry is not permitted and will lead to disqualification.

Judging

  1. Round One

    10.1. All entries will be judged in the first instance by members of the 成人快手 Competition team to ensure compliance with these Rules.

    10.2. All valid entries will be passed to a panel of judges from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and they will create a shortlist of up to 50 entries.

    10.3. In the event that a school has more than one entry eligible for the top 50, the top ranking entry will be taken through, and any others will receive an "honourable mention" certificate from the competition.

  2. Round Two

    11.1. The top 50 from Round One will be passed to the final judging panel, comprising of experts and celebrities.

    11.2. Final judging day is on approximately Monday 3 March 2024 (subject to change).

  3. There will be one overall winning school and three runners up. All winning schools will be announced on Monday 10th March 2025 on the 成人快手 Teach website. The 成人快手 may, in its absolute discretion, announce on a 成人快手 broadcast platform.

Judging Criteria

  1. All entries will be judged against the following criteria:

    13.1. Problem identification. How well is the problem/opportunity that they have identified through research, observation or investigation explained?

    13.2. Appropriateness. Does the gadget address the problem/opportunity identified and is it likely to make a positive impact?

    13.3. Application of micro:bit. Has the micro:bit been effectively used and is central to the gadget?

    13.4. User-friendly. Does it look easy, enjoyable and intuitive to use? Is the design visually appealing or iconic?

    13.5. Communication. Does the design drawing and written description communicate materials used, context of use (e.g. worn, placement, thrown), reasoning behind choices (e.g. sustainability, etc.) and scale?

The Prizes

  1. The winning school will receive:

    14.1. a visit to their school by a Gladiator;

    14.2. a coding session with our micro:bit coding expert;

    14.3. a 拢500 voucher for computer equipment; and

    14.4. have their design turned into a prototype gadget. Please note, the 成人快手 may need to make reasonable modifications to the winning design in order to make the prototype.

  2. The three runners up will receive:

    15.1. a 拢500 voucher for computer equipment; and

    15.2. a Micro:bit coding session.

  3. The top 50 entrants after Round 1 will each receive one additional classroom set of micro:bits.

  4. The prizes are as stated. The prizes cannot be transferred and there is no cash alternative. The winner cannot copy, reproduce or distribute the prize or copies of it. Any programme names, branding or logos on or associated with the prize cannot be used or reproduced by the winner in any way. The winner and runners up shall not do anything with the prize that might bring the 成人快手 in to disrepute.

General

  1. The 成人快手 cannot take any responsibility for any technical failure, nor for any malfunction which may result in an entry being delayed, or not properly registered or recorded.
  2. The 成人快手's and the judges' decision as to the winners is final. No correspondence relating to the Competition will be entered into.
  3. Entrants agree to take part in post-Competition publicity for the 成人快手.
  4. The 成人快手 and any other organisation associated with the Competition accepts no liability for any damage, loss, liabilities (including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damage) injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of entering the Competition, not being able to enter into the Competition or accepting any of the prizes. Nothing shall exclude the liability of the 成人快手 for (i) fraud, (ii) for death or personal injury because of that party's negligence, or (iii) any other cause of action which cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law. In no event shall the 成人快手 and/or any other organisation associated with the Competition鈥檚 total liability to you for all damages, losses, or causes of action exceed the price of the relevant prize.
  5. The 成人快手 reserves the right to disqualify any entry which breaches any of these Rules, brings the 成人快手 into disrepute or to withhold a prize if, in its opinion, entries do not reach the required standard.
  6. The 成人快手 reserves the right to (i) amend these Rules or cancel this competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if circumstances arise outside of its control, (ii) disqualify any Entrant or winner who breaches these Rules, has acted fraudulently in any way or brings the 成人快手 into disrepute (in its sole discretion).
  7. The 成人快手 cannot be held responsible for any unforeseen events relating to, or the cancellation of any related element of this Competition outside of the control of the 成人快手.
  8. Teachers and parents/guardians are deemed to have accepted these Rules.
  9. The competition complies with the . This competition is subject to the 成人快手鈥檚 Terms of Use.
  10. If any of these clauses should be determined to be illegal, invalid, or otherwise unenforceable then it shall be severed and deleted from these Rules and the remaining clauses shall survive, remain in full force and effect.
  11. These Rules shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any claim, dispute or matter arising under or in connection with these rules.
  12. Gladiators is a production produced by Hungry Bear Media and MGM Alternative UK, a division of Amazon MGM Studios, in association with the 成人快手. The promoter of the competition is the 成人快手.

Competition Privacy Notice

Your trust is very important to us. This means the 成人快手 is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal data. It is important that you read this notice so that you are aware of how and why we are using such personal data. This privacy notice describes how we collect and use personal data about you during and after your relationship with us, in accordance with data protection law.

Why are we doing this and how can you participate?

The 成人快手 invites teachers to enter gadget designs by students aged 7-11 attending UK schools to the Gladiators micro:bit competition. To participate in the competition, children are asked to design a gadget that will enable Gladiators to improve their performance.

To enter, you may submit a maximum of 3 entries per school via the 成人快手 Uploader on the competition website. The entries should include the children鈥檚 gadget design and a 100-300 words text explaining its features and how it works.

The competition launches on Tuesday 15 October with a 30-minute Live Lesson broadcast on C成人快手 and is thereafter available on the 成人快手 Teach website and 成人快手 iPlayer. The entry window is from 15 October 2024 to midday 6 December 2024.

In the first round all valid entries will be passed to a panel of professional judges from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers so they can create a shortlist of fifty (50) entries by 14 February 2025.

The fifty (50) shortlisted will then be passed to a final judging panel, comprising of experts and celebrities to choose the winner on 3 March 2025, which will be filmed. They will choose one (1) winner and three (3) runner ups.

The winner will be announced on 10 March 2025 on the 成人快手 Teach website and may appear on 成人快手 broadcast.The top 50 entrants after Round 1 will receive an additional classroom set of micro:bits.

The three runners up and the winning school each receive a voucher for 拢500 in computing equipment and have a micro:bit coding session.

In addition to that, the winning school will have their design turned into a prototype gadget and win a visit to their school by a Gladiator, as well as the opportunity to participate in a coding session with our micro:bit coding expert.When you contribute to the 成人快手, we may use your contribution in our campaigns or content, but we cannot promise to use everything that we receive. If we share your contribution, this may include web content including articles and educational content, social media and newsletters.

What personal data will the 成人快手 collect?

The 成人快手 will collect and process the following personal data about you:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Contact telephone number
  • Name of your school
  • Your school鈥檚 post code

Who is the Data Controller?

The 成人快手 is the 鈥淒ata Controller鈥 of your personal data. This means that the 成人快手 decides what your personal data is used for, and the ways in which it is processed. For the avoidance of doubt, your personal data will be collected and processed solely for the purposes set out in this privacy notice. As the Data Controller, the 成人快手 has the responsibility to comply, and to demonstrate compliance with, data protection law.

Lawful basis for processing your personal data

The legal basis on which the 成人快手 processes your and your child鈥檚 personal data is the performance of its public task. The 成人快手鈥檚 role is to act in the public interest and to serve all audiences with content which informs, educates, and entertains.

This is consistent with the 成人快手鈥檚 wider public purposes under its Royal Charter which includes reflecting, representing, and serving the diverse communities of all of the United Kingdom鈥檚 nations and regions and providing specialist educational content to help support learning for children and teenagers across the United Kingdom.

We also have a legal obligation to process the personal data of the winners in order to comply with relevant competition regulations.

Sharing your personal data

The 成人快手 works with our approved third-party providers who help us to provide some of our services. These partners only use your personal data on behalf of the 成人快手 and not independently of the 成人快手.

We may share personal data with a third party where required or permitted by law.

Retaining your personal data

The 成人快手 will retain any unsuccessful submissions and any associated personal data until 6 December 2025.

We keep records of the winners and their personal data for two (2) years from the final date of entries, for auditing and compliance purposes.

If you or the design appears on 成人快手 programming or 成人快手 promotional content, this will be retained and archived in perpetuity by the 成人快手. Your personal data will be stored in the UK and the EEA.

Your rights and more information

You have rights under data protection law:

  • You can request a copy of the personal data 成人快手 stores about you.
  • You have the right to request that we rectify any inaccurate or incomplete personal data that we hold about you.
  • You have the right to ask for the personal data we collect about you to be deleted however there are limitations and exceptions to this right which may entitle the 成人快手 to refuse your request.
  • In certain circumstances, you have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data or to object to the processing of your personal data.
  • You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal data to you or to another organisation, in certain circumstances.
