Come with us on a Live Lessons virtual school trip to Newstead Abbey in Nottinghamshire for National Poetry Day 2022!
We explore the stunning former home of poet Lord Byron as we come up with poetry ideas inspired by the National Poetry Day 2022 official theme of The Environment.
The programme focuses on using our senses to write about our own local environments, as well as looking at similes, metaphors and performance techniques.
Award-winning performance poet, author and former Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho creates an acrostic poem live throughout the programme inspired by contributions from schools across the UK.
Please note that this lesson was published in 2022 and we are no longer reviewing emails and messages from schools for inclusion in the lesson.

Joseph Coelho's acrostic poem, created live during the show using descriptions of your pupils' environment:
Nature sings a song of tweeting birds
A chirping melody of fresh green words
Trees rustle in the brushing breeze
Under the globe – apples I start to sneeze!
Read like a bookworm about nature in bed
Every dream of the seasons will fill up your head
