Supernatural Staffordshire

A few good ones…

*Lyndsey tells the story of the ‘Burslem witch’.Ìý The tale is told a little monotonously but comprehensively. But the most interesting thing about this vid is the amount of old black-and-white footage
*Seeking Spirit is someone who does ghost-hunting, and this film shows a vigil at Burslem’s ‘The Leopard’ pub. It’s okay, but rather slow, and filmed in such low light you can’t see anything much of the time!
*The Tamworth Castle piece is obviously very professional, and is a cut from the show itself. Not surprisingly it has a five-star rating

Comedy

As you would guess, most stuff on YouTube and the others is not quite suitable, but here are a few that are …

*Wish You Weren’t Here is fantastically funny and brilliantly paced. Okay, it doesn’t show Stoke in a flattering light, but … it’s comedy!Ìý A classic.
*Stoke on Trent song is a really clever over-dub of Dick & Dom. At least, we think it’s an over-dub…

Heritage

*The Staffordshire Film Archive has lots of little brilliant clips, some nearly a hundred years old. See the good ol' days in motion!

Tamworth

We couldn’t find a lot from Tamworth, but…

*This short clip films from the top of Tamworth Castle’s towers, and can make you feel quite dizzy!
*A pretty girl takes a lazy ride along the River Tame on a sunny day – what more could you want?
*Nice, speeded-up film about the painting of subway by a graffiti crew – with a hip-hop soundtrack

Burton

Not too many for Burton either – can you recommend some? If you can, make your comments on the form at bottom of this page

*A profile of a homeless centre in the town, which has been sensitively filmed. Gives you a bit of insight into the issue – shame about the varying levels.
*Feeling a bit down? Take in this film of Branston Water Park at sunset, complete with animated flowering tendrils and uplifting Elton John soundtrack. Comforting…

Kinver

*Okay, so it’s not going to win an award, but this video of toddlers dancing at the Kinver Country Fayre is just…well… sweet!

Lichfield

As you’d expect, lots of heritage stuff…

*If you’ve never seen the ceremony when the Sheriff of Lichfield rides the city boundaries, then this nicely-edited film really shows you what’s what
*The Taking Down of the ITV Tower is, yes, alright, very nerdy – you have to be interested in broadcast transmission! – but it’s beautifully put together from old footage by Bob Cotton
*This film of a Volunteer Weekend shows that even young amateurs can construct great fly-on-the-wall stuff

North Staffordshire
