As part of our series on bipolar disorder (manic depression) Helen Thomas spoke to Ann and Keith about how the disorder has affected them.
"He thought he was the second son of God - he thought Jesus was his brother... You just want to go away and never come back"
Ann and Keith Holding are from Chesterton, in North Staffordshire.听 Twenty seven years ago Keith was diagnosed with manic depression.
Ann talks about coping with the extreme moods which he suffers. When he first starting getting highs, Keith thought he was a famous person who needed protection, and that he had a lot of money. When he was down, he'd just lie on the sofa and sleep.
Ann says sometimes she hoped he'd go out and not come back, but she's stayed with him and their son. Finally she speaks of a present Keith got two years ago, which has drastically changed their life for the better.
