Knit 3 tubular rows Row Counter 000 Change to tension 4 and knit 2 rows. Next row make a small buttonhole over centre two stitches, by transferring stitches to adjacent needle. Knit 19 rows Cast off 1 stitch at each end of the next two rows (both beds) Transfer stitches to main bed, knit 1 row Remove the remaining 18 stitches onto waste yarn Bonnet Using 1x1 rib Tension 0/0 Cast on 70 sts Knit 3 tubular rows. Change to tension 3/3. Knit 8 rows . transfer stitches to main bed .Tension 7 Knit 1 row Transfer stitches onto alternate needles push empty alternate needles into non working position. (950i owners use 532, take lace carriage across twice push alternate needles to NWP) Knit 1 row Put 26 needles on opposite end to the carriage, on HOLD Carriage on hold Knit 1 row Cast off 18 sts at centre Knit 1 row Row counter 000 Tension 7 Knit 12 rowsTension 6 Knit 10 rows Break off yarn, Leave 26 sts on hold Return other 26 sts to working position Tension 7 Knit 12 rowsTension 6 Knit 10 rows Break off yarn Transfer stitches held on waste yarn (Flap) onto centre 18 needles. Carriage on the right Tension 5 Knit 6 rows. Transfer stitches onto alternate needles, push back NWP needles. Tension 3 Knit 8 rows. Break off yarn, leaving a long end. Thread end through sts using a bodkin, and release from the machine. Pull up and secure. Join seam approx 5cms. Sew on ribbons (NB Do not thread yarn through the holes in the bonnet, they are for the Hospital's use.) Attach a small button to fit buttonhole in flap. To make hat smaller or larger just adjust the number of stitches you cast on. |
