Fly-half Lloyd Evans has joined United Rugby Championship (URC) side Dragons after leaving English Premiership club Gloucester.

The 28-year-old, who can also operate at full-back, was born in Gloucester but is Welsh-qualified through his father Huw Evans, the former Scarlets chairman.

Evans is a product of Gloucester's academy and made almost 100 senior appearances for the Cherry and Whites.

He made 11 appearances last season, including in the Premiership Rugby Cup final triumph against Leicester, but is moving on in search of more regular playing time.

鈥淟loyd鈥檚 been around the club for a long time and I鈥檝e always appreciated his commitment and willingness to turn out wherever necessary for the team,"

鈥淲e鈥檙e well stacked at fly-half and full-back next season, with Santi Carreras, Gareth Anscombe, Charlie Atkinson and George Barton all able to cover both positions.

鈥淪o, naturally it makes a lot of sense for Lloyd to move on and play regular rugby."

Evans joins back row Shane Lewis-Hughes, lock Steve Cummins, back row Solomone Funaki, centre Harry Wilson and hooker Oli Burrows in becoming a new Dragon.

Dragons head coach Dai Flanagan revealed Evans will link up with his new team-mates from Monday, 8 July as the senior squad return for pre-season.

Flanagan said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e excited that Lloyd is linking up with us. He鈥檚 a talented player who arrives with a wealth of experience in the English Premiership and top tier of European competition.

鈥淚鈥檝e watched Lloyd closely for several years and, as a Welsh-qualified player, he joins us ready make an immediate impression in a new competition.

鈥淟loyd comes with superb references from those who have worked with him; he鈥檚 a good professional who demands the highest of standards and is highly motivated to push himself and secure a starting place.鈥
