Cardiff have signed Wales scrum-half Aled Davies from English Premiership side Saracens.

The 31-year-old has joined in what Cardiff describe as a "long-term contract", but have not specified its duration.

Davies has made more than 70 Saracens appearances in the last four seasons, helping them win the English Premiership title in 2023.

“I’m really excited to join Cardiff at this time and to see where this group can go - it’s full of talent," said Davies.

“I’ve obviously worked with [head coach] Matt [Sherratt] before and he is a very astute coach, who I enjoyed playing under."

Davies' career began at Scarlets before his 2018 move to Ospreys - where Sherratt was a coach - and he has made 20 Wales appearances.

Sherratt says Davies' arrival will help ease the blow of Wales' Tomos Williams moving to Gloucester for 2024-25.

"We needed to add some experience at scrum-half and Aled has been there and done it," said Sherratt.

“He has a huge amount of top level experience, has represented Wales on 20 occasions and arrives from one of the best teams in Europe, with all that insight and experience."
