Wigan Warriors and St Helens both maintained their strong starts to the season with victories in the Women's Super League on Saturday.

New leaders Wigan thrashed Featherstone 50-0, while St Helens moved up to second by winning 16-6 at Leeds Rhinos, who drop from first to third.

In a tentative first half of a rematch of last month's Challenge Cup final - also won by Saints - Tara Jones' try gave the visitors a 4-2 lead at the break after an early Leeds penalty.

Faye Gaskin, who failed to convert Saints' first try, crossed the line herself in the 66th minute and Zoe Harris applied the conversion.

Leeds set up a dramatic finish as Evie Cousins crossed to make it 10-6 four minutes from time but Harris responded with a try and Gaskin converted to secure Saints' third successive win over Rhinos this year.

Wigan made easy work of bottom side Featherstone, with Eva Hunter, Georgia Wilson, Rachel Thompson and Grace Banks scoring tries before half-time.

Jenna Foubister, Rease Casey and Anna Davies added second-half tries, while Wilson and Banks each scored again and Isabel Rowe landed seven of nine kicks.
