Cornwall RLFC were beaten 18-6 by Midlands Hurricanes in the final home game of their League One season.

Australian full-back Cameron Brown went over for the only try of the first half and his goal put the home side 6-0 up at half-time.

But Hurricanes levelled seven minutes after the break as Lewis Peachey touched down before a controversial try put the visitors ahead.

The referee initially ruled Tom Wilkinson was in touch when grounding, only for the touch judge to intervene and the try was awarded.

Todd Horner then collected Sully Medforth's grubber to score Midlands' third try.

Defeat leaves Cornwall second-bottom of League One, six points clear of pointless Newcastle Thunder, with two games remaining.

But the result was a much-improved display from the previous meeting of the sides in Penryn, where Cornwall were trounced 72-6.
