    Castleford 12-12 Salford

Blimey Castleford look so dangerous when they get the ball and Danny Richardson puts in a fantastic kick to Michael Shenton.

He's within touching distance of touching down for a certain try but Ken Sio puts in an incredible try-saving tackle to stop him.

  2. Postpublished at 46 mins

    Castleford 12-12 Salford

Peter Mata'utia thinks he's stripped the ball and won possession from Salford's Rhys Williams but Salford survive as they keep possession.

They're just behind halfway as it stands with a set of six to play with and Williams gets back onto it and it takes three Cas players to bring him down.

    Sensational stuff.

  3. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Castleford 12-12 Salford

Jake Trueman puts in a pretty tame kick at the end of what had been a promising attack for Castleford in the early stages of this second half against Salford.

The Red Devils send a kick upfield at the end of the set of six that follows and they do well to keep Cas penned back.

  9. Half-timepublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 8 May 2021

    Castleford 12-12 Salford

A thrilling first half and shaping up for a cracking second 40 minutes.

A much better match than the earlier tie already.

  10. try

TRY: Castleford 12-12 Salfordpublished at 40 mins

    Peter Mata'utia, goal Danny Richardson

Jordan Turner races on to a loose ball in the corner as Salford are pegged back soon after their second try.

It's not given on field and it goes upstairs and the consensus is that it's no try as Turner couldn't quite ground the ball.

However at the restart, Peter Mata'utia gets Castleford back within two! Danny Richardson levels it soon after.

  11. try

TRY: Castleford 6-12 Salfordpublished at 34 mins

    Harvey Livett, goal Harvey Livett

Harvey Livett is an immense player and he's proving his worth to Salford with a sensational second try against Castleford.

He works on to James Greenwood's offload and powers his way through almost untouched.

    Livett converts once more.

  12. Postpublished at 33 mins

    Castleford 6-6 Salford

Castleford have what looks like a tremendous turn and ground from Liam Watts but there's a stunning try-saver from Danny Addy and Tui Lolohea.

In the end, it's Addy's foot which stops Watts from grounding the ball successfully. Stunning last-ditch stuff.

  13. Postpublished at 30 mins

    Castleford 6-6 Salford

A finely-poised quarter-final if I've ever seen one with two very evenly matched sides battling it out here.

Harvey Livett concedes a penalty just past halfway with a rash high tackle. A rare error in this match.

  14. try

TRY: Castleford 6-6 Salfordpublished at 24 mins

    Daniel Smith, goal Danny Richardson

What a response from Castleford who've been under a fair bit of pressure from Salford for the entirety of this half.

Daniel Smith powers his way towards the line and under the posts and it's sent upstairs but it's correctly given. Great stuff.

Danny Richardson has the easiest kick in the world to add the two.

  15. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Castleford 0-6 Salford

Danny Addy looks to dart his way through having seen a gap in Castleford's defence as they desperately try to hold Salford up.

He almost succeeds but Cas steal the ball in the process inches before he manages to touch down over the line.

  16. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Castleford 0-6 Salford

Salford are in the ascendancy now and are well and truly camped in Castleford's 10.

Kevin Brown sends another grubber kick through and Oli Holmes is forced to knock the ball dead.

    Sensational stuff from Salford.

  17. Postpublished at 21 mins

    Castleford 0-6 Salford

Kevin Brown is having a fine old game for Salford as the veteran set up their first try and he's battering his way through the Castleford back line as they attack.

Tui Lolohea on the last puts a lovely kick in to goal and James Greenwood forces Peter Mata'utia into a goal line drop out.

  18. 'Salford keep their calmness'published at 18 mins

    Castleford 0-6 Salford

    Robbie Hunter-Paul
Former New Zealand international on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Two

Salford were under the pump for the first few minutes of the game but kept complete calmness in their game.

They didn't try to push the pass and they were happy to bang away in the middle of the park and draw energy out of the Castleford forward pack.

  19. try

TRY: Castleford 0-6 Salfordpublished at 15 mins

    Harvey Livett, goal Harvey Livett

Great stuff from Salford as Kevin Brown sends a high kick in towards goal and it takes a wicked bounce which has Castleford fooled.

As it goes to ground, Harvey Livett dives onto it and grounds it but referee Ben Thaler takes it upstairs and, after numerous replays and angles, it's given.

    Livett adds the two.

  20. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Castleford 0-0 Salford

A good ball game here, with both sides putting some decent kicking in up and down the field, putting to shame the earlier Hull FC v Wigan tie.

Almost a quarter of an hour gone and it's shaping up to be a competitive tie with two teams going at each other in these early stages.
