Qatar go long and have a chance to relieve some pressure as Almoez Ali is tripped by Kalidou Koulibaly.

Clumsy that rom the Chelsea defender. Qatar free-kick in a decent position to get the ball into the box.

Tell you what, there aren't many of them in here but the Senegal supporters have been banging their drums and shaking their maracas from around an hour before kick-off.

Sounds like a real carnival inside the stadium.

Qatar fans are trying to drown them out with their thunderclap.

Senegal are making the pitch very big, they are trying to draw Qatar out but at the moment they are not being drawn and they are staying very compact.

Mark: Senegal need to get past losing Mane. As Wales found out with Bale, you can’t rely on a single player to always deliver.

There is a sense that Senegal underperformed against Holland. They need to improve.

Qatar will want to be more organised and better on the ball. The nerves were there but they are a dangerous team.

Qatar tried to get their foot on the ball in the first couple of minutes but they are now dropping off and letting Senegal have possession, which is a dangerous game to play.

The Qatar fans made a decent noise after the national anthem.

There are flags all around the place, with locals dressed in white thobes and black abayas.

It's pretty full in here, a smattering a green empty seats around.

Akram Afif is the only member of Qatar’s squad to have played in one of the top five European leagues. He spent time with Sevilla’s youth team before signing for Villarreal in 2016, becoming the first Qatari to join a La Liga side.

While he never played for them, he was loaned to Sporting Gijon (then in La Liga), where he made 11 appearances in all competitions.

He has also had three separate loan spells in Belgium with Eupen. In January 2018 he rejoined Al Sadd, with whom he has won three league titles.

You get the feeling that Qatar will need him to be bang on it today and importantly get the ball to him in good areas.

    Qatar v Senegal (13:00 GMT)

Not only did Qatar become the first hosts to lose their first match at the World Cup, they were also the first host nation not to have shot on target in a match at the finals since the USA in their last 16 defeat to Brazil in 1994.

Manager Felix Sanchez has subsequently said side were "nervous" and their performance did represent the look of a side unfamiliar with the big occasion.

But will there be any butterflies today, for what is now a pivotal match. I guess we shall soon find out.
