    Ipswich 0-0 Barrow

Big things were expected of Ipswich in League One after they were taken over by an American consortium earlier this year.

However, they're 11th in the third tier and were knocked out of the EFL Trophy in midweek by Arsenal Under-21s.

Barrow are down in 20th in League Two and in poor form, but can they take encouragement from some of their opponents' frailties?

  9. Elsewhere in today's FA Cup tiespublished at 14:58 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2021

    #bbcfacup

Elsewhere in today's 15:00 GMT kick-offs, we've got plenty to get stuck into.

AFC Wimbledon are looking to reach the FA Cup third-round for the fifth time since their formation as they take on Cheltenham, who are hoping to reach the third round for the second season in a row.

Bristol Rovers take on Sutton United, with the League Two newcomers looking to reach the third round for only the second time this century.

Port Vale travel to Burton Albion having never won on their travels to the Pirelli Stadium, while Exeter look to continue their four-game winning run against Cambridge as they aim to be in the hat for the third-round draw.

League Two strugglers Carlisle and League One strugglers Shrewsbury meet in the FA Cup for the first time since 1965-66 and managerless Doncaster welcome Mansfield having been drawn at home for the first time in three seasons.

Leyton Orient hope to end a run of nine defeats from 10 FA Cup ties against EFL opponents when they welcome Tranmere, with Lincoln City aiming to avoid defeat against Hartlepool.

Rochdale take on in-form League One side Plymouth having not won in their past four FA Cup home games while Walsall face Swindon in their 100th meeting between the two sides in all competitions.

  10. Can Harrogate seal rare away FA Cup win?published at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2021

    Portsmouth v Harrogate (15:00 GMT)

2008 winners Portsmouth welcome League Two opposition today as they look to reach the third-round stage.

This is, in fact, the second time that these two teams have met in the FA Cup and the most recent time wasn't too long ago.

Pompey ran out 2-1 winners when they met in 2019-20 and their opponents have their work cut out to win today.

The last time they won away from home in the FA Cup proper? 2012-13 against Torquay United.

  11. 'Opportunity to make their mark'published at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2021

    Carlisle v Shrewsbury (15:00 GMT)

    Joe Thompson
Former Rochdale and Tranmere midfielder on Squad Goals

My game of the day comes from Brunton Park, where League Two Carlisle United host League One Shrewsbury Town.

Both come into this fixture confident off the back of impressive 1-0 wins in their respective leagues.

Shrewsbury did great to beat a resurgent Charlton Athletic in their last outing. Carlisle, meanwhile, saw off Walsall in League Two and have an EFL Trophy bounce after beating Lincoln on penalties in midweek.

But this is the FA Cup and with the big boys entering the competition in the next round. The opportunity is there for both sets of players to make their mark…

  12. Barrow hoping to pile on Ipswich miserypublished at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2021

    Ipswich v Barrow (15:00 GMT)

League One side Ipswich Town have their own heritage in this competition having won it in 1978, and they take on League Two Barrow this afternoon.

It is the first competitive meeting between these two sides and their opponents have won just three of 29 FA Cup ties against EFL sides from a higher division.

However, they take on the Tractor Boys who are winless in their past nine matches at home in the competition.

Should Barrow win today, it would be their first appearance at the third-round stage since 2016-17.

  14. 'It was a professional performance'published at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2021

    FT: Buxton 0-1 Morecambe

    ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One

    Morecambe boss Stephen Robinson:

"I think it was a professional performance. It was set up for a cup upset today with the wind, rain, sleet and playing on top of a mountain.

"We're not very good when we play the ball long so we had to stick to trying to play our game.

"I'm hoping for a big team in the next round as it will hopefully secure our financial future."

Morecambe will know they've been in a game today. They're four divisions above Buxton but you haven't been able to tell that.

Buxton have controlled the game at times this afternoon.

  17. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2021

    Buxton 0-1 Morecambe

Morecambe prevail after a proper FA Cup tie in Derbyshire.

There wasn't much to separate seventh-tier Buxton and their League One opponents, but Cole Stockton's 16th goal of the season proved the difference.

The home side gave everything - with Diego de Girolamo hitting the post early on - but Morecambe deserve to be in the hat for the third round.
