  1. Nam 3-1published at 1 over

    Target 161

When I asked for the thumbs up and thumbs down during the interval 88.5% of you were backing Afghanistan.

I can only imagine that was gone up further with that early breakthrough. This is a very steep ask for Namibia.

Craig Williams is staring at the bottom of his bat. Well bowled from Naveen, just angling the ball in at the batter and he's generating some good pace here.

This will cheer Afghan up a bit!

Namibia clearly want to make the most of this powerplay and chasing 160 that is understandable. Craig Williams doesn't time this properly at all and ends up just skying a catch to mid-on.

Asghar Afghan is currently not fielding for Afghanistan. He is sat in the dugout in floods of tears. He's having to use his cap to shield his face from the cameras. He is very emotional.

Here's how he was out for the final time in international cricket. He finishes with 1,382 runs at an average of 21.93 in T20 internationals.

Namibia have got nothing to lose. 161 to win is a really tough ask but they've got to try and capitalise on the powerplay. Obviously they want to win this game but mostly they'll be wanting to see improvements as a side.

We're already ready for the chase.

Afghanistan are a spinner down today with no Mujeeb Ur Rahman so right-arm seamer Naveen-Ul-Haq will open the bowling today.

Afghanistan's Asghar Afghan on his retirement:"I am retiring because I want to give the youngsters a chance. As a team we are playing very good cricket and it is a good opportunity for them to come forward.

"A lot of people are asking me why not to the end but I can't explain it. After the last match we were too hurt and that's why I chose to leave at this stage.

"I have so many good memories. It is very difficult when you decide to retire. This is difficult for me and difficult to explain but I had to retire."

160 is a very good score and they've got a very strong bowling attack, too. They'll be very happy with their position at the halfway point.

I doubt we'll see Rashid Khan bowling in the first six overs still, usually Mujeeb does that job so maybe it will go to Mohammad Nabi today.

But the hitting of Asghar Afghan, playing his final game before retiring, and Mohammad Nabi has lifted Afghanistan to a really competitive 160.

They took 64 from the final six overs and that has tipped the game in their balance.

Namibia were able to peg Afghanistan back on a few occasions though...

We'll quickly run through some of the best moments from that first innings during the interval.

Afghanistan's openers Hazratullah Zazai and Mohammad Shahzad got them off to a flier and that gave them a platform to post 160-5.

    Thanks Thomas.

Decent effort from Afghanistan that. It felt like Namibia were checking them back on a few occasions but that is an imposing total and they will back themselves to defend that.

Who do you fancy? Thumbs up for Afghanistan. Thumbs down for Namibia.

Well, that was fun. But it is time for me to take a break and leave you in the reliable hands of Callum Matthews to take you through the Namibia innings.

  15. Namibia need 161 to winpublished at 11:39 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

So Namibia need 161 if they are to win. Is that too much?

Looking at Afghanistan's spin attack, I suspect it is.

A wonderful knock from Mohammad Nabi. He really put Namibia under the pump. I thought 135 would be too much for Namibia and they've gone way past that.

  17. Afg 160-5published at 20 overs

    Afghanistan end with a flourish!

Over-pitched from Wiese and Mohammad Nabi hauls it into the onside and a misfield on the boundary sees the ball escape for four.

Afghanistan end on 160-5, You'd think they will be happy with that.

A clever slower ball from Wiese and a swing and a miss from Nabi. Welcome dot for Namibia.

Gulbadin Naib tries to launch the third ball down the ground but he doesn't quite time it and the can only run one.
