Two down in quick succession for Hampshire and all of a sudden there's a different complexion to this final session.

    ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Sussex at New Road

An intriguing final session in prospect at New Road, with Worcestershire needing to score at 5.5 an over to win.

The pitch is still a good one, and with eight wickets in hand, a Sussex victory is currently looking the least likely result, with a Worcester win second favourite and perhaps the most likely result a draw.

Much will depend on how long Jack Haynes (44 not out) and Jake Libby (57 not out) continue their partnership of 80, they’ve been largely untroubled so far but will need to step on the accelerator after tea.

  8. Postpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 2 September 2021

So they're actually still playing at Lord's rather that tea because Derbyshire are nine wickets down.

We're continuing for now to see if Middlesex can wrap up the win.

Toby Roland-Jones is eyeing up a five-wicket haul as well...

  10. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 2 September 2021

    Lancashire 341 v Warwickshire 371 & 201-5

The best way to describe that session is to say Warwickshire have meandered their way to 201-5, with no risk but no great sense of urgency either.

But they are certain to pick up the eight points they need which will take them back above Nottinghamshire to the top of the table.

With the next round of matches beginning on Sunday, don't expect this one to go into a final hour.

Mason Crane survives yet another session as nightwatchman having come out to bat at 18:18 BST last night.

Surely now he becomes a "double nightwatchman" if such a thing exists?

He's not out on 28 from 192 balls. James Vince also proving stubborn with 14 off 70 balls.

Yorkshire will be able to take the second new ball for the final session, but they will need six more wickets to try and complete a victory.

Five fours off 121 balls gets him to his latest landmark as he and Jack Haynes (33 not out) continue to build an impressive partnership for the third wicket and keep Sussex's hopes of victory at a comfortable distance.

  16. Marathon stint for Parkinsonpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 2 September 2021

    Lancashire 341 v Warwickshire 371 & 194-5

This match is destined for a draw, but Matt Parkinson deserves a big pat on the back for his efforts.

The leg-spinner has bowled unchanged all day, sending down 31 consecutive overs and his current figures are 3-74.

As the Aussies like to call it, that is a lot of 'hard yakka'.

  17. Different atmosphere next week in M16published at 15:14 British Summer Time 2 September 2021

    Lancashire 341 v Warwickshire 371 & 188-5

    Derbyshire (205 & 186-8) need 148 more runs to beat Middlesex (282 & 256)

Middlesex on the verge of victory now at Lord's.

Martin Andersson finds himself involved in the wickets of Anuj Dal and Matt Critchley in the space of three deliveries.

Only one will go in the wicket column of his bowling analysis though.

The first sees him run out Dal at the non-striker's end after he deflects a Critchley drive back on to the stumps.

Two balls later though, Critchley also has to go as he cue-ends a pull shot to Sam Robson at second slip.
