A point on the board for Gloucestershire and I'm sure welcome relief for many of their supporters who feared the worst this morning.
They were stuck in and are missing captain Chris Dent and Ryan Higgins.
Debutant Ollie Price has taken them past 200 and he's now in with his older brother Tom.
How the pair play the second new ball due shortly will go a long way to deciding who claims the spoils at the end of the day.
Hampshire 488 v Surrey 34-4
An error of judgement by Ryan Patel, who offers no stroke to a ball from Keith Barker and is bowled for 11.
Two balls later, Jamie Smith does play a defensive shot but suffers the same fate as his off stump is knocked out of the ground.
Barker now has a James Anderson-like 3-9 and a lot is depending on Hashim Amla for Surrey.

No joy yet for Hampshire in the final session of the day. Hashim Amla is 20 not out and Ryan Patel has 10. A long way to go for Surrey, though, to reach their first target of avoiding the possibility of following on.

Things quietened down momentarily at Old Trafford following back-to-back maidens by Harry Podmore and Darren Stevens - but Keaton Jennings has just edged the first ball of a new Podmore over for four to reach double figures. Alex Davies is 20 not out at the other end.

A big wicket for Northants with Gary Ballance gone for 26 and the lead at 52.
To borrow a phrase, he did not look happy, but the replay of his lbw to Simon Kerrigan looks pretty good.
Warwickshire 174-3 v Durham
Rob Yates moves into the 90s with two fours in the same Ben Raine over at Edgbaston. He made 104 against Worcestershire on the same ground in May and would love to surpass that today.

He reaches 50 from 95 balls by chopping Fynn Hudson-Prentice down past point for four - the seventh of his innings.
As we mentioned earlier, England's top three all failed today. Wonder if Chris Silverwood is watching Hameed, or one of his 'spies', perhaps.

Notts have passed 100 but they are now minus their captain, who was caught off Fynn Hudson-Prentice for 42, two balls after pulling him through mid-wicket for four.
It was undistinguished shot, but a superb catch by first slip Ben Aitchison, who kept his eye on the ball as keeper Ben Duckett dived in front of him.

A six by Alex Davies from the final delivery of Harry Podmore's opening over makes it a pretty expensive one for the visitors.
Podmore dropped short and Davies rocked back before depositing it beyond the rope at mid-wicket.

Gloucestershire have been going well today but they're now in a sticky spot.
Glenn Phillips has just whacked one to mid-off and it brings Ollie Price to the crease on debut - with his brother Tom also to come.

Bowling from the end that carries his name, James Anderson gave a masterclass of bowling.
Inswing, outswing and pretty much unplayable, it was the most outstanding spell of 10 overs, 7-19.
Anderson becomes the first Lancashire player to pass 1,000 first-class wickets since Jack Simmons in 1988.

Image source, RexThe wicket of prolific Australian Marcus Harris on the stroke of tea confirmed this as another very good session for Somerset, after they'd taken their first innings to 461-9 before declaring.
Craig Overton, captaining in the absence of both Tom Abell and Lewis Gregory, will be a particularly happy and relieved man, having dropped Lewis Hill at third slip in one over, and then redeemed himself by pinning him lbw in the next.
A stat of note is that this was only the second time ever in first-class cricket that numbers 8,9 and 10 have all scored more than 75 in an innings, the other occasion being as far back as 2008.
Warwickshire 146-3 v Durham
A maiden by Ben Raine to Rob Yates ends the afternoon session - but Yates walks off with 74 not out against his name.
Ben Stokes has bowled 13 overs so far in his first Championship game for Durham for three years and has figures of 1-46.
Hampshire 488 v Surrey 16-2 - tea
A single each for Hashim Amla and Ryan Patel off Kyle Abbott in the final over before tea. It has been a tough session for Surrey, who again had to toil in the field without New Zealand paceman Kyle Jamieson.
His compatriot Colin de Grandhomme made a marvellous unbeaten 174 for Hampshire and shared a 10th-wicket partnership of 114 with Brad Wheal, who made 45.
Sussex 226 v Glamorgan 146-5
In the balance this one.
Glamorgan made healthy progress but Sussex have chipped away.
The visitors still 80 runs behind.

Matt Quinn was caught at fine leg in the previous over but the fielder's foot was over the rope, so he was awarded a six and finished on 13 not out.
Lamb takes 3-16 - but the demolisher in chief was James Anderson, with career-best figures of 7-19 from his 10 overs.
