Group A

BT Excel, flying the British flag in the group, demonstrated their superiority by winning eight of their ten group games. Their two defeats came against Norwegian organisation Riddle, who won seven of their games.

Sweden-based Godsent and Norwegian-based Nordavind had a 50% winning record, winning five of their games, Godsent taking third in play-off against Nordavind.

Group B

Fnatic Rising won all ten matches in the group and were followed by Danish side Tricked Esport and Ireland's Munster Rugby Gaming with six wins. British side Barrage Esports took the final play-off spot from Group B, edging out Iceland's Dusty by winning their last two games.

Non-qualifiers

Finnish side Ence and Dusty managed to secure fifth place in their respective groups, which qualifies them for the next season of NLC without having to play in the relegation series.

Danish side Team Singularity and British-based MNM will have to play for NLC survival against the two top performers from the Telia Masters tournament, which features the best teams from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Great Britain and Ireland.

What is it?

The Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC) is a new competitive ecosystem for the Nordic countries, plus UK and Ireland. It sees 12 initially selected teams compete for 1m Swedish Krona (roughly £87,000) and the right to be named NLC champion. The competition is designed to "breed the stars of tomorrow".

How does it work?

After a 15-day league stage, we're now into the play-offs. The top four teams in each division will be seeded into a double elimination bracket while the fifth place has been eliminated but maintained their NLC status for next season.

The sixth place in each division will compete in the relegation series, against teams from the Telia Masters (the top two sides from the national leagues qualify for this), to maintain their place in the NLC.

Europe’s top league, the LEC has its final three rounds of games this weekend as it heads for the group stages with only two of the 10 teams – MAD Lions and Rogue – safely in the play-offs and the remaining eight still in with a chance of a place in the top six and post-season games.

Even bottom team Schalke, who won only one of their first 11 games, are in with a shout of avoiding an early departure after hitting a four-game winning streak to take them I to the three vital games of the Super Week.

Spring Split winners G2 Esports have also hit form at the right time, taking three of their last four games as the play-offs approach.
