Exeter City boss Gary Caldwell fears Yanic Wildschut may have suffered a serious injury in his side's final pre-season game.

The 32-year-old Suriname forward was stretchered off 10 minutes into City's final pre-season game against Eastleigh.

Wildschut moved to Exeter as a free agent in September and extended his deal until the summer of 2025 in April.

"It doesn't look great. Whenever a player goes down when there's no tackle, there's no kind of collision, you fear the worst," Caldwell told 成人快手 Radio Devon.

"We don't know what the full extent's going to be, so we'll just stay really positive, cross our fingers and hope that when he gets the scan later on next week it's not as bad as we feared, but it doesn't look great."

The injury marred a relatively positive pre-season for the Grecians who had not suffered any serious injury problems, having had a host of fitness issues in the first part of last season.

Caldwell said it was a big blow for Wildschut, who he felt had been in good form since returning after the summer break.

"Yanic's worked extremely hard over the summer, he came back in great condition," he added.

"I thought he was starting the game really well again, so it's a big blow, but it's a blow that we can take in terms of the staff that we have, the players around him.

"Whatever it is we'll support him and get him back as quick as possible."
