Rooney given one-game ban after Plymouth red card
Plymouth Argyle head coach Wayne Rooney has been given a one-match touchline ban and fined 拢5,500 by the Football Association after admitting charges of improper conduct.
Rooney was sent off towards the end of his side's 2-1 Championship win over Blackburn Rovers this month.
He was unhappy a foul was not given in the build-up to Rovers' late equaliser before Morgan Whittaker headed a winner deep in stoppage time for Argyle.
The former England captain, 38, admitted three charges relating to the incident.
He accepted using improper, abusive or insulting words towards a match official and a charge of improper and/or violent conduct relating to him kicking a water bottle.
Rooney also admitted returning to the field of play after being sent off by coming out to congratulate his players following the final whistle.
It means he will not be in the dugout for Saturday's trip to Cardiff City, with assistant head coach Pete Shuttleworth taking charge of the team from the sidelines while Rooney is in the stands.
"I showed my frustration and emotion in what I felt was a free-kick," Rooney told 成人快手 Radio Devon during his pre-match media conference on Thursday.
"I think everyone in the stadium bar the officials saw that and that boiled over.
"It's not ideal, but it happens in football and we move on, and I'm delighted we got the win in the end.
"It's not ideal of course, you want to be there, but when you get sent off, if that's the case that I'm not allowed to be in the dugout, I have to accept that."
