Stadium of Light to host women's Tyne-Wear derby

Sunderland will play Newcastle United in the women's Tyne-Wear derby at the Stadium of Light.

The fixture will be held on Sunday 13 October (14:00 BST) as one of four games to be played at the ground this season.

Sunderland finished third in the Championship last season, while Newcastle were promoted as winners of the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division.

Further matches will be played at the home of the men's team against Birmingham City on 2 February and Sheffield United on 4 May, along with the River Wear derby against Durham on 4 March.

The Lasses' other home games will be staged at their regular home at the Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground in Hetton-le-Hole.
