'I got the last laugh' - Bannan after Derby win
Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan says he "got the last laugh" after his stunning goal helped the Owls come from behind to win 2-1 at his former club Derby County.
Wednesday were behind for much of Sunday's game after Ebou Adams swept the home side into a ninth-minute lead at Pride Park.
But Bannan, who was celebrating his 35th birthday, curled a sensational left-footed effort from the edge of the box into the top right-hand corner, before Jamal Lowe won it late on.
Fans were quick to boo the former Ram, who played at the club in 2009 while on loan from Aston Villa, a reaction which Bannan said he was not expecting.
"The Derby fans were battering me in the first half and I got booked, so I had a personal vendetta to come out and do something", he told 成人快手 Radio Sheffield.
"I really enjoyed it here when I was younger so it was a bit weird they were booing me. I thought I'd be all right here but I got the last laugh.
"That's why my celebration was so dramatic, because I got to give a little back to them."
The victory took Sheffield Wednesday to within five points off the play-off spots.
"We set out at the start of the season to get into the top half, and we as a team are aiming for that," Bannan added.
"As professionals, you don't just want to fight relegation, especially because we have the lads to get to the other end of the table."
