Manchester United have signed former Arsenal defender Dominique Janssen on a three-year contract, with the option of a further season.

The Netherlands international, 29, spent four seasons with the Gunners before joining Wolfsburg in 2019.

Janssen won two league titles with Wolfsburg and announced in May that she would leave the German club when her contract expired this summer.

She started the Champions League finals in 2020 and 2023 when Wolfsburg were beaten by Lyon and Barcelona respectively.

"I鈥檓 delighted to be at such a big club like Manchester United," said Janssen.

"Signing here is a really proud moment for me, and I cannot wait to now return to the English league and create new winning moments with this talented Manchester United team."

United boss Marc Skinner added: "Dominique is a proven winner, both domestically and internationally.

"Her winning mentality is an important addition to our team, and her notable playing experience will enhance our entire dressing room."

United have been looking at reinforcements after several injuries to key defenders last season, including Gabby George.

Captain Katie Zelem left the club last week following the expiry of her contract, while forward Lucia Garcia's exit was also confirmed.

Goalkeeper Mary Earps has also left United and joined Paris St-Germain.

United remain hopeful of signing Brighton forward Elisabeth Terland on a free transfer.
