Claude Makelele has said yes to taking the Asteras Tripolis manager role after leaving Chelsea's loan department by mutual consent last year.
The former Blues midfielder left Stamford Bridge last September after a four-year spell advising loanees on how to improve their game.
He has now opted to return to management in Greece's top flight having previously managed Bastia and Eupen in France and Belgium, alongside other coaching roles at Paris St-Germain and Swansea City.
Former Swansea and Reading manager Paul Clement will join Makelele as his assistant having spent a long-time working with Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and PSG.
Clement was also part of Frank Lampard's backroom staff at Everton.
Tripolis have won one, drawn one and lost one of their first three matches this season, sitting fifth in the Super League Greece table.
